What is an acceptable ID?

Image Requirements for ID Documents

Please be aware that we only accept valid government-issued ID documents for verification.

Which ID scan or photo is fully acceptable?

Image requirements:

• Full-colour image
• ID is in good condition
• All data on the ID is easy to read
• The image is well lit
• ID is upright
• 1-2 cm (½”-1”) of background around ID is visible
• ID takes up most of the image

Reasons it can be rejected:

• Black & white (grayscale) image
• ID is damaged, torn, or has holes
• ID is blurry, has a watermark, or any other obfuscation
• The image shows light glare or reflections (do not use flash when photographing ID!)
• ID is turned sideways or upside down
• The edge of the ID is cut off (even if “a bit”)
• There is too much space around the ID

Great examples:

• The perfect image of an ID card

• The perfect image of a passport

Unacceptable examples:

• ID card is too blurry

• ID image is cropped

• ID edges are not visible

• ID image is not coloured

• ID background is not contrasting
